Kelly’s Outer Banks Restaurant Celebrates 30 Years

June 18, 2015, marked the 30th year in business for Kelly’s Outer Banks Restaurant. Mike and Willo Kelly gave a shout-out and heartfelt thanks to long time employees: Glenda Morse, Mary Ann Newman, Vickie Downs, Charlie Edmond and Toni Pfeiffer (better known as the Biscuit Lady).
To commemorate the anniversary, Mike commissioned local sculptor, Louie Hoppe, to create a metal shrimp. Named OBX Catch, the shrimp epitomizes Kelly’s dedication and use of fresh caught, locally harvested seafood. It also represents the inaugural piece for an Outdoor Art Project that will be funded by the Kelly Family Fund, through the Outer Banks Community Foundation.
A small reception followed the unveiling (“deveining”) of the shrimp sculpture and was attended by Mike’s family, friends, Dare County and Nags Head officials. We look forward to many more years of Outer Banks hospitality!
